Barbie’s photo shoot

Inspired by a photo project completed by a talented friend at work this week, the 7yo and I decide to give it a go.

We had grandiose ideas of Barbie lounging in an amazing candy world, Katy Perry style, but lacked the know-how, patience, and ton of candy required to make it a reality.

We settled for Barbie sunning herself on a graham/marshmallow bench:

And enjoying the cool breezes as she drifted atop Skittles Pond:

(Barbie would have preferred an ocean, but it takes way more Skittles than you’d think to make one.)

We expanded our scenery and props, and even invited Barbie’s friend Stephen along.

The Skittles Pond is infested with dangerous, man-eating sharks, so please stick to the path.

Considering it kept the 7yo excited and entertained for two hours, I’d say this was a successful shoot.

Behind the scenes with wardrobe:

Finding out that using Starbursts as bench supports was not stable:

She asked us to take a headshot for social media purposes:

I think it’s a good one, don’t you?

I don’t have anything funny to say (I tried, but couldn’t come up with anything) but I just wanted to say that this is the best ever.

I’m pretty sure I’ve said it before: You are a FUN mom. And also, when I taught I’d have the kids share “two things” about their weekend on Monday mornings. I’m afraid if Lil was trying to tell me about this, I’d be all like “What’s this now?”
